Keep Feeling Fascination

Fascination: The Jean Rollin Experience singlehandedly justifies the existence of the entire internet. How else could I access hundreds of stills from Rollin's sleazy, offensive, surprisingly artistic and unintentionally fashionable canon? Below are a few of my favorites...

Phone Charms For Everyone!

Phone charms are pretty much my favorite things ever (besides nail polish of course, and Crackers) and Strapya.com is phone charm heaven. Need some extra seasoning on your food? Strapya has pepper shaker charms! Long for the days of elementary school? No fear, there are Lisa Frank charms!! What is your favorite animal? Mine is an ALPACA and as much as I long for having my own alpaca farm, at least I can have one hanging off my phone! Another personal fave is the sexy butt phone charms and there is even a video with them dancing! Wow! But of course, this being Cat Party, I will share some of my favorite kitty charms with you:

Crazy eye kitty, Eating kitty

Fuzzy kitty, Ferret...kitty?

Fat kitty, Gloomy kitty

Bandana kitty, Punk kitty!

The best part of this is that most of these charms will cost you less than five dollars, definitely less than ten, so there is no reason not to have a plethora charms for every mood and occasion!

Felines on Fim: Hausu

I was lucky enough to attend a screening of the Japanese cult classic Hausu (House) at BAM recently and I can't say enough good things about it. It's about a group of schoolgirls who visit a haunted house where they are terrorized by killer lampshades, pianos, and a white persian cat named Blanche. Hausu is not yet availible on DVD (although Criterion owns the rights) but it will be screening at the IFC center for a for a week starting on January 15th and touring the country shortly thereafter. A list of dates can be accessed here. Much to my delight, there is also new Hausu merchandise in the Criterion store. I am so in love with this t-shirt.

Valley of the Dolls

If you need a last minute gift for the morbidly inclined fashionista in your life I highly reccommend The Birds Barbie doll, it's a total steal at $33.65. There is also a Madame Alexander version but it's no longer in production and it's super expensive. I'm surprised that these doll companies have such a dark sense of humor; I wish they would pay tribute to other doomed celluloid heroines. I could totally get into a Carrie barbie....

The Secretary Issue

I can't wait to get my hands on the third issue of I Love You; it was inspired by Joan from Mad Men! Below are a few preview images from their website. I've also mixed in a few photos of Joan because, well, look at her....

California Dreaming

I love these new vial necklaces from Unearthen in collaboration with Alexandra Cassaniti. I'm a native Californian and current New York resident so I love the idea of wearing a vial filled with water from the pacific ocean at all times. They also make necklaces containing compost, crude oil, pink holi powder, and sand.

December Will Be Magic Again

A few years ago I discovered Kate Bush's epic 1979 christmas special, aptly titled Kate Bush Christmas Special, and watching the YouTube videos has become a new holiday tradition. The problem is, I never seem to remember to post them on Cat Party! But this year I actually have it together and I am so pleased to share these with you. My personal favorite is Violin, do not leave this post without watching it!

Also, you may have noticed that we got a major makeover. We were feeling a bit like Tai from the first half of Clueless and now we're totally in Cher Horowitz territory. We added a few fun things to the sidebar: "Cat of the Moment" is pretty self-explanatory, "The Art of Jane Fonda" will showcase various artistic representations of my hero, Jane Fonda, and the "Hall of Fame" section will feature a rotating selection of people who inspire us. And I made a really creepy cat GIF.

Also, I will admit that in the past I have been extremely bad about returning e-mails and adding links. Those days or over so if you would like to be added to our blogroll please e-mail us at ilovecatparty@gmail.com or leave a comment on this post. I will also make a point of posting more frequently in the new year. Thank you all so much and have a lovely holiday!

I've Loved You So Long

I just picked up the second issue of the new German magazine I Love You and I was totally blown away. I highly recommend purchasing a copy here or if you're a New Yorker you can buy one at Opening Ceremony. I can't wait for the third issue to be released on the 21st; I hear that it is inspired by Joan from Mad Men. Major swoon!
